Cultural Capitalism Ltd

The Company

The idea behind this trading company is to demonstrate and deliver social benefit by making profit that creates a difference to society in a positive way.

The Concept

Many academics have a theory that Capitalism has a responsibility to society to support those unable to achieve or maintain a reasonable existence without some kind of non government support structure. The process is normally considered to be 'Charity'. However the mere word send shivers into the less fortunate as by definition it renders them subservient and generates low self worth and probably thinking they are a burden to society.

Cultural Capitalism avoids this dilemma as it bypasses the stigma that comes with the word Charity. Anyone can be charitable and not necessarily be a charity or undertake an action that maybe demeans the beneficiary. There are many examples of Cultural Capitalism where we see 'Fair Trade' that allows the supply chain provider in a chain some dignity so the corporate process does not trap the providers in a poverty position that they cannot escape and therefore by potential enslavement they only exist to serve the corporate to secure their profit at the workers considerable personnel expense.

This company seeks to trade with a strong motive to support those who would benefit from a greater degree of fairness.

Charity

We believe the word is misunderstood and potentially outdated. It often masks rather than enhances. It appears financially successful charities are really businesses and successful charities in a holistic self sacrificing way are constantly battling to survive as they rely wholeheartedly on grants and the generosity of others. As society advances Cultural Capitalism has come of age.

"Grameen believes that charity is not an answer to poverty. It only helps poverty to continue. It creates dependency and takes away individual's initiative to break through the wall of poverty. Unleashing of energy and creativity in each human being is the answer to poverty."
